5. Hydrangea Parterre

Well, this is France and in a way this is my homage to Versailles. Here I tried to give enough symmetry to be pleasing but not too much that eye gets bored.  Each side is different, varying in shape and size, with the paths giving the continuity of pattern. It was planted with box and roses for many years. However, with advent of box blite and the difficulty of growing standard roses in the summer dry spell, I have changed the planting. I am now using Burbris Buxifolia for the hedges and standard Hydrangeas instead of Roses.
