The idea of a lily pond garden came to me after a visit to Hidcote in Gloucestershire and seemed an ideal way of ending the view from the summerhouse on the mound. Below shows some of the stages of development with Picture 2 showing the untouched area with the Yew hedge just planted in the disance. The round form also made it a natural way of leading to other parts of the garden. This part of the garden has matured greatly in the last few years. The hedges are now 3 meters high and the planting has become colourful and established. The raised terrace bordered by horn beams is for gazing down on the pond and the lilies. To the right we have built a boat bench using an old sink.  Paths from here lead to the orchard and topiary garden.
