13. Oak Tree and Rose Walk

The latest area of the garden to be set out joins the other gardens together via a linking set of paths. The old oak tree, one of the survivors of the 2000 storm, formed an ideal vantage point to view the bluebells in spring. The  bench hugs the tree with the beech hedging guiding you to the view. This space also seemed a great place to have rose arches, the arches being inspired by a visit to Japan. I keep the grass as a kind of meadow with the sleeping giant tucked away in the trees to the right. We will see how this develops over the coming years.
